DIRECTIONS TO FALLS

Fall Creek Falls, Idaho: From Swan Valley, take Hwy. 26 W. for 3.25 miles to Snake River/Palisades Dam Road. Go south on this gravel road for 1.4 miles and park where the road widens. The trail is marked by a small sign and is a short walk to the falls.

CHAPTER 2 - The Eastern Rocky Mountain States

North Clear Creek Falls, Colorado: From Creede, take Hwy. 149 N. for approx. 26 miles to FS 510 (on the right just north of Mile Mark 48). Turn right onto 510 (look for sign to North Clear Creek Falls) and go 0.8 mile, then veer left into the parking area and viewpoint. In Rio Grande National Forest.

CHAPTER 3 - The Plains States

Dripping Springs Falls, Oklahoma: From Siloam Springs, Arkansas, take Rt. 412 W. Go 3.3 miles and turn left onto New Line Ranch Road. Take the first right hand turn onto unmarked Old Route 33. Continue 1.8 miles to the State Park on the left. Obtain a map. The falls is a short walk from the parking lot.

CHAPTER 4 - The Midwestern States

St. Louis Canyon Falls, Illinois: From the junction of Routes 71 and 178 (just south of Utica), take Rt. 178 N. for 0.4 mile. (This falls is located in Starved Rock State Park). Turn right (sign points to Trail Parking) and go 0.4 mile to parking area. The hike is about 1/4 mile to the falls.

CHAPTER 5 - The South Eastern States

Noccalula Falls, Alabama:Take Interstate 59 to Gadsden Exit 188 (County Road 211). Look for Noccalula Falls sign. Follow 211 S. (Noccalula Road) for several miles until passing the bridge over Black Creek. The falls Visitors Center and parking lot are on the right (look for sign, very well-marked).

CHAPTER 6 - The North Eastern States

Taughannock Falls, New York: From Ithaca, take Rt. 89 approx. 8 miles to Taughannock State Park. Park in the parking lot opposite the Park Office. Parking fee required. Take the Gorge Trail about 3/4 mile to the falls.
